And on that note…

My last entry noted that I would be voting for the candidate who supports and protects the unborn and Israel.  It is stunning to me that any Christ follower would vote for someone whose record shows a consistent vote against legislation that would protect the unborn – or even a child who has survived an abortion and is left to die.  Are we really going to drink the kool-aid America?

Psalm 139 (The Message)

13-16 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High Godyou’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adorationwhat a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day.

God have mercy on our nation…

Jumping in…

I don’t usually jump into these political conversations, but so much is at stake for us as a nation (under God) and many of my brothers and sisters in the Lord are sounding very much like the world that I feel I must.  Ultimately, as a Christ follower my decision is based on the issues that relate to God’s economy and are dear to His heart rather than man’s ecomony, which is faulty at its best, done at worst. The candidate who will protect and support the unborn and Israel will be getting my vote.  I will exercise my prviliege/responsiblity to vote, but God will decide who holds the office of President of the United States.

Romans 13:1b For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. (New Living Translation)
I exhort fellow Christ followers, spend at least as much time in God’s word as you spend following / talking about the political scene or thinking / talking about the economy’s impact on your personal finances.  We must look to the LORD of Hosts for our protection and provision, not the world.  Do not be conformed to this world…
Romans 12:1&2 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (New King James)
Now get out and vote!!!

Help for Establishing Priorities…

I heard this on today’s broadcast of Insight for Living broadcast:

There are only two things that will last forever:  the Word of God and people.  Does that help you establish your priorities?

Daniel 2:30-23

20Daniel answered and said:
” Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and might are His.
21 And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
22 He reveals deep and secret things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And light dwells with Him.
23 ” I thank You and praise You,
O God of my fathers;
You have given me wisdom and might,
And have now made known to me what we asked of You,
For You have made known to us the king’s demand.”

The sky is falling, the sky is falling…

I am reminded of the childrens’ story of “The Little Red Hen” as I read the news headlines lately…

Fear Grips World Markets, Dow Futures Plummet More Than 230 Points, Mud Flies as Campaign Heats…

What are we told in scripture?

I Peter 4:7-11

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.  As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.  If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Where does my help come from?

Psalm 121

 1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
         From whence comes my help?
 2 My help comes from the LORD,
         Who made heaven and earth.

 3 He will not allow your foot to be moved;
         He who keeps you will not slumber.
 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
         Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

 5 The LORD is your keeper;
         The LORD is your shade at your right hand.
 6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
         Nor the moon by night.

 7 The LORD shall preserve you from all evil;
         He shall preserve your soul.
 8 The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in
         From this time forth, and even forevermore.

This is a time of great opporutnity for God’s children!!!  We have nothing to fear… Isaiah 43.
